When the Clan liner Clan Ogilvy berthed nt the Haihvay Wharf yesterday it was found that the damage to her machinery was more serious than had been at first reported, ft appears that the intermediate shaft was completely broken, and that considerable damage had been dene to its bearings, the only one that remained intact being the aftermost tailshaft bearing. The break was a diagonal one two feet in length. The first report was ft written one handed to the press reporters by n. representative of the vessel's local agent, Mr. G. 11. Scales. A new intermediate shaft is required, and it is difficult to state how long these repairs will take.
ANGLO-BOLIVIAN AT SYDNEY. On Sunday the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Anglo-Bolivian arrived at Sydney from New York. She is expected to continue her journey to Auckland and AVcllington on May 3, and is due at this port about May 14.
MAUNGANUI FROM SYDNEY. Leaving Sydney for Wellington direct at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the Union Company's steamer Mnmignnui has on board 143 saloon and 107 steerage pnssengors for New Zealand. Her cargo for Wellington amounts to 361 tons. The vessel is due in port oarly to-morrow morning.
SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE. Cable advice received by the local office of the Union Company stales that E.M.S. 'Manuka arrived c.t San Francisco from Wellington at 7 a.m. on Thursday last. She is scheduled to leave on the return I rip on May 1, and is due in port on May 28.
The Aorangi left Sydney for Wellington at 4 n.m. on Saturday. Due in nort early on Thursday morning the vessel sails on Fridnv for San Francisco, via Karoton'-'a and Papeete. San Francisco should be reached on May 16. MESS TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. V.. F. Smith has joined the Mokoia as second engineer. Mr. J. M'Leen ha« joined the Kapiti as engineer in place of Mr. F. Armstrong. Mr, S. J. Munn, second engineer of the Flora, has come ashore at Wellington. Mr. T. Gray has joined the Hhiiitanei as second engineer, vice Mr. T. P. Scanlon. COPJNTniC'S MOVEMENTS., R.ir.S. Corintliio will leave Wellington for Lyttelton to-morrow. At the southern port discharge of her London cirgo will bo completed. The liner proceeds thence to Gisborne, where Home loading will be commenced. Subsequently she returns to Lyttelton. and then comes on to Wellington, and leaves here for, London on May 16. KAEAMEA TO LOAD. Dnc at Auckland on April 29, the ShawSavlll steamer Karamea proceeds theneo to Gisborne and Wellington. She Is duo Vere on Monday, May 6, and leavos on the following day for Lyttelton, Duncdin, Oamaru, and Timnru. On May IB the Karamea returns to this port, and sails Anally for London on May 22. MAUNGANUI DUE TO-MORROW. A wireless message received from tho turbine steamer Maunganui states that the vessel expects to reach Wellington from Sydney at 7 o'clock to-morrow morning. Yesterday afternoon the New Zealand drill ship Pioneer arrived in port from Nelson. It is probable that the warship will leave for northern ports to-day. It is expected that the Tyser liner Nerelmna will get away from Wellington for Lyttelton on Friday next. Taviuni, s.s.. arrived at Lyttelton from Hie Chatham Islands at 7 p.m. on Sunday. It lias not been decided whether the vessel .will make another trip to the Chatham* or not. The steamer Himitangi leaves Wellington for the Chatham Islands at noon to-day. Koromiko. turret vessel, left Kaipara, timber-laden, for Melbourne at 1.45 p.m. yesterday. The Government steamer Hinemoa is expected back at Wellington from northern lighthouses either this evening or early to-morrow morning. Before proceeding to Cook Strait lighthouses, the vossel will take a load of material to Casllepoint lighthouse. The coastal sleaiuer Eipplo was placed on the Patent. Slip for overhaul yesterday. She comes off to-day, and the Tulanekai will then be taken up. Arahura, cross-stittit- and West Coast packet, arrived at Greymouth from Wellington, via way ports, at 10.30 a.m. yesterday. She was to have left on the retur.i trip at midnight. Next Saturday the Union Company's steamer Te Anau is expected to leave Tiniaru for Wellington direct.
