Brown, general manager, and John Macpherson, accountant, on charges of conspiring to defraud tiie Singer Sewing Machine Company of divors large sums of money was opened at the Criminal Court. The evidence was a repetition of that of the Lower Court.

Brown and Macpherson weTO charged with conspiring to defraud the company of ,£12,714. Tho evidence given in the Lower Court went to show that Brown, who was the general manager in Australia, received a salary of .£4OOO per annum, and that on his account becoming largely overdrawn he adopted a system of bookkeeping and making alterations in landing charges by which his defic.it was wiped out. It was alleged that Brown had in this manner deprived the company of tho sum named.
