THE OLYMPIC CONTESTS. (Dγ Tclecranh.— Press Association.) Christchurch, April 20. A meeting of the Xew Zealand Swimming Council, in conjunction with the Chnstchurch centre, was held to-day to consular' (he difficult}- regarding Champion's departure. The council secretary Htated that the. difficulty was solely due to the-' demand uf tho Olympic Council in Wellington for a guarantee of £100. Auckland had guaranteed nil the expenses, but apparently this was insufficient. However, Mr. George Harris hart fiven ii personal guarantee of ,£SO, and e understood that -Champion would Bet away to-day. The centre decided to take steps at once to raise the amount of Mr. Harris's guarantee.
