The Carpathia's unexpectedly early arrival prevented tho Senate's Investigation Committee from boarding her before she docked. The chairman states that he learned that the surviving officers and crow contemplated boarding the Cedric immediately to proceed to England, thus placing themselves beyond tho committee's jurisdiction. Tho chairman added that he Intondod to tell Mr. Joseph Bruce Ismay (chairman of the White Star Company) that, in order to avoid trouble, the ! company and officers should assist the inquiry by the Department of Justice at Washington.

It is bolioved that tho erroneous messages concerning the fate of the Titanic ■were a deliberate attempt to postpone knowledge of the wreck so as to give time to re-insure cargo.

Mr. Bruce Ismay says he welcomes the fullest inquiry. Ho left tho Titanic in the last boat, and has deferred making any statement.

The extreme secrecy displayed in regard to the disaster, and the withholding of dotails, is severely commented upon.
