SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION.
Sir,—ln the event of people in a country district neglecting or deciding not to electa committe, I understand the board appoints someone.in the district to net as commissioner. If no one comes forward or is available £o act as commissioner, what happens? Is there any instance of a teacher receiving committee capitation direct from the board, and having the committee, administration in his own hands?—l am, etc., INDIFFERENCE. TOn inquiry at the Education Beard, Mr. Stewart stated that in regard to the above letter that a school committee is appointed by the local people, and if no committee is elected the Education Department appoint a commissioner. The regulations are framed upon the assumption that a commissioner will bo found, and as'yet there have been.no cases whero a commissioner has not been found.]
