WOOL AND HIDE SALES.
The following are brokers' reports relating to wool, hide, and tallow sales held yesterday.— Messrs. Dalgoty and Company, Ltd., report:—Wo held our usual sale of wool, skins, hides, and" tallow yesterday afternoon .after a lapse of a, month, owing to tho Easter holidays intervening. There was a good attendance of buyers, and with competition keen, satisfactory prices wore roalisod. Wool: Crossbred, 63d. to 7jd.; lambs, 7id. to 83d.; pieces, 4jd.; locks, 31d.; crutchings, 43d. Shcpskius: Crossbred, line, 7id. j crossbred, medium, 61d. to 7d.; broken nnd damaged, 4jd. to sid.; lamb, 51(1. to 6id.; dead, 43d. to 51d.; polts, 23d. to lid.; quarter-wools, Sid. to 61d. Hides: Oi, heavy, 73d.; ox.light, bid.; ox, cut and slippy, 5Jd. to 6&d.; cow, medium, 6Bd. to 73d.; cow, cut and slippy, 5Jd. to 6j>d.; horse. 9s. 6d. each: calf, pood, lljd.; calf, cut and slippy, 6jd. to 9d.; cow tails, Is. 7id. doz.; horns, 15s. per 100. Tallow: Good, in shipping order, 28s. per cwt. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—Wo offered a large catalogue to a good attendance of buyers. Competition was good, and prices were Arm at full market rates. Wool: Rough crossbred, 6d. to 7d.; lambs, 7d. to 7*d.; dead wool, 7d.; pieces, 4d. to 51d. Murray JRobcrts and Co., Ltd., re-port>:-\Vc offered 50 bales of wool, 4800 skins, and 500 hides. Tho attendance of buyers waa rather larger than usual, and competition was very keen. Prices for all produce ruled fully on a par with late figures, with the exception of inferior hides, which wcro slightly easier. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We sold about 60 bales of wool, a number of | bags of wool, and a considerable quantity of sheepskins, hides, calfskins, rabbitskins, tallow, etc. Buyers wcro in full attendance, and good prices were obtained for everything sold. Tho woo] consisted mostly of crossbred stragglers, together with a few lots of ci'utchings. The wool news from London is vory encouraging. Cable advices regarding the current series report a firm market for floe wool, with a ri'so of about 5 per Gent, for medium and ooarse crossbreds.
