The short title of this By- '• law is "The Wellington City By-law, No. _ 14 (Butchers' Shops), 1912." d Tho object and purport of such By-law i, are;— i- To prescribe the method of construction of tho front and walls of butchers' 1 shops and for the cleanliness of same. To ? provide for tho disposal of wnste refuse and dirt from 6uch butchers' shops, and _ to prevent nuisances arising therein; to - prohibit butchers' shops directly coml- lnunienting with sleeping chambers, pri3. vies, and similar premises; to prescribe tho clothing of shopmen and persons de--7 livering meat and carcass meat-carriers, ]' and to provide for the cleanliness of same. tj To prevent persons suffering from infectious or eruptive disease engaging in meat - trade; to provide for the cleanliness of « vehicles and baskets used for tho trans- '- port or delivery of meat, and to prevent >■ the contamination of meat in Bame; and '• to regulate tho storage of meat in butchers' shops. To prescribe in what premises r meat intended for sale for human con5, sumption may be stored, and to provide > for the cleanliness of such premises and all utensils used therein; to prohibit perr sons from smoking or spitting whilst in " butchers' shops, in premises where meat is stored, or whilst engaged in tho trans- - port or delivery of meat; to prescribo - that all butchers' shops and premises e used for tho storage of meat intended for sale for human consumption shall be 7 made rat-proof; and to prohibit the eni trance of dogs into same.
