An application from tho librarian for an iiicrcaso in. salary was referred to the incoming committee. Officers were elcctod as under: —Patron, Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P.; president, Mr. A. X. Burns, M.A.; vice-president, Mr. J. G. Moore; committee, .Messrs. \V. Howard llooth, IX Eobcrtson, M. D. M'Gomi, W. C. Dellor, and Mesdamcs Johnston ami Stondage; secretary and treasurer, Mr. \V. Downard. Mr. 11. 11. WoHers, of Carterton, ha» purchased a 15-20-h.p. Austin motor-cai. Tho annual meeting of tho Carterton Tradesmen's Association was held on Wednesday evening, Ml'. \\. Mooro piosiding. On tho motion of tho chairman, tho report and balance-shect was adopted In doiiis so, Mr. Mooro said (lint tho operations of tho association had worked vcrv smoothly, and had boon benelicial. 'Officers were elected as un-der--President, Mr. W. , Mooro; vieopresident, Mr. S. Davis; executive, Messrs W. W. Mansfield, NY. A. Kitchen, A Bish, W. C. Deller, F. Feist, G. HuHian, G. L. Colo; secretary, Mr. L. 11. Smart. Mr. 11. D. Wallis was re-electod auditor, and accorded a voto of thanks for his past services. Mr. Coleman Phillips wroto in connection with tho proposition to reopen tho Clarcvillo tannery. It wa6 decided that tin! matter was outsido tho seopo of tho association as a lxxly, although individual monitors niiffht interest themselves in it.
