Astronomical Association made successful observations of tho eclipse of tho sun at the town of Tenafiel, near Oporto. ANIMALS FRIGHTENED. (Rcc. April 19, 0.30 a.m.) Paris, April 18. - The solar eclipso was well observed at Saint Germains. Tho phenomenon frightened the birds and animals. A central eclipse of the sun took place 011 April 16-17. The path of tho central eclipso began in tho eastern part of Venezuela, and mov.-J in a north-east duetio.i, crossing tho Madeira Islands, the north-east corner of Portugal and Spain, over Paris, along the southern shore of the Baltic Sea, through Northern Russia, and ending at sunset in Siberia 111 latitude 5!) dog. 20 mill. N., and longitude 81) dog. 48 mill. E. Tho oclinsc, tho year books state, was 'total for about half an hour at (lie middle of its duration and annular during the remainder.
