NEW RAILWAY STATION.
CR. FULLER URGES ACTION.
Agitation for a new railway station for Wellington is considered by Councillor Fuller to bo a proper function of tlio City Council, and last night at tlio council "meeting ho moved the following resolution:— 1
"That a deputation, consisting of the 'Mayor, councillors, and citizens,
wait upon tlio new Minister for Railways with regard to the early commencement and completion of tho new Wellington Central Railway Station."
Councillor Fuller, supporting his motion, said that the late _ Minister for liailways had pursued a policy of masterly inactivity in regard to providing Wellington with a, now railway station. There was a grand chance, at tlio present time, of getting the matter dealt with straight away. Councillor Flcteher: The plans are drawn.
Councillor Fuller: They will be drawn until the.v decay if things go on as at present. 1 will not wait, even if we get a new Minister for linilways every day,' until our just cause is recognised. Councillor, M'Laren seconded tlio motion, and suggested that every constituted body in the city should bo asked to send representatives with the deputation. Councillor Cohen: Chamber of Commerce and Harbour Board?
Councillor M'Laren: Yes, nil constituted bodies, industrial bodies, and Labour bodies —
Councillor Fletcher (laughing): Even tlio Citizens' league. . Councillor M'Larcn: Yes, even the Citizens' League. The resolution was amended, as suggested by Councillor M'Laren, and agreed to on tlio voices.
