Holdsworlh (the Mayor) gave a brief review of t!io year's doings.
At the end of 1910-11, said Mr. Holdsworth, the overdraft had been XIOO9, and by 1911-12 it had been reduced to .£SOB. The district fund liad been .£133" in debt in 1910-11, and a year later had been reduced to ,£BB7. Permits for buildings to the value of .£22,839 had been issued in 1910-11, and permits to the extent of ,£IG,9BS in 1911-12. In this respect tho indications for the present year were very much better—most likely .£25,000 would bo the figure. A councillor: "Why, one building alono is to bo ,£25,000!" In 1910-11, continued Mr. Holdsworth. (.he rates outstanding amounted to «£I6G 7s. 10cl., and in the following year tho amount was «£39 7s. 7d. This reduction in tho rates owing was due partly to tho efforts of tho clerk (Mr. Abraham), and partly to the fact that the rates last year had been si ruck at a later date than in the previous year. The *£39 7s. 7d. outstanding had been reduced to .EIS. All instalments on (ho Kniwarra drainage work had been paid, and, also, all Kaiwnrra rales. Councillors: "Hell done, Kaiwarra. During the year, the Mayor wont on, a hall had been built at Kaiwarra, and everyone seemed well satisfied with it. ■Vlre'ady there were sufficient bookings to pav ihi' custodian's salary. Inspecting electric light, negotiations wero in progress for a new agreement.
