ROME UNEASINESS ALLAYED. Interviewed last night, tl> c Minister foh Defence (Hon. A. SI. ilyers) made nil in(cresting statement in regard to tho military camps. It will bo remembered that the Wellington Sunday School Union recently brought under the noticc of (ho Minister resolution of tha .Sunday Schuol Teacher's Convention, which was held at Blenheim during tho Easier holidays:—"That this convention ol Sunday sciiool teachers, representing 87 schools with one thousand teachers and over 10,000 scholars, respectfully requests the Hon. the Minister l'or Defencc to give instructions to military officers to seo that no unnecessary Sunday work is carried out by cadets while in camp, as such procedure is calculated to seriously underinino the work of Sunday schools." The Minister, in explaining (ho position last evening, said (hat orders were recently issued to the cilvct that the s.riking of camps and travelling by Territorials on Sundays must ceuso. So far as the Senior Cadets were concerned, no enmps for them had been, or would be, held, as tho regulations did not require them to attend camp as part of their training. The Minister intimated that he was setting forth the position in a letter to Sfr. H. J. Thompson, secretary of the Wellington Sunday School Union.
