Tn- giving evidence before the Pure Food Commission, leading confectioners stated that if colouring matter was disallowed in cakes, it would seriously affect thoir sale. If they were compelled to . use eggs instead of margarine in the manufacture of pastry, tho difference in cost would be so great that every pastry manufacturer would have to close.
