BETTING, ASSAULT, AND FINES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Wnnnanui, April IG.. Sidney Blain, who was a prominent bookmaker ' when bookmakers were licensed, and 0. Crane, a local punter, again figured in tho Court to-day lor tho third time, as a sequel to n betting transaction. In tlio first case, Blain was fined .£2O. In the case of Crane, who had given evidence only on tho understanding that he would be indemnified, this could not be done, so Blain brought an action against Crane for betting with him. Crane was fined JS>, but tho police undortook to recoup him. To-day Crane eued Blain for ,£ls danu ages for assault uud battery, which took placo at the time of settling up the original transaction which caused all th< trouble. Blain was mulcted to tho ew tent of X 7 9s.
