CURIOUS BEHAVIOUR.
Sir,—l attended the anti-military meeting yesterday (Sunday) in Post Oflico Square, for the purpose of taking Eomo photographs. After photographing the crowd while several of them wero waving their lints, cheering, and singing the National Anthem, I was accosted by three of the "anti" party, who demanded: "Upon what authority nro you photographing the meeting " Of course, I politely informed them that 1 declined to answer any impertinent questions, as I have yet to learn that I have transgressed any law, by using a camera in the street. They thereupon threatened to seize my instrument, with the intention of destroying the plates, but desisted upon being told that I would claim polico protection. Now, sir, while many of us may not agree with the Defence Act as it stands, why should these "anti" peoplo, who are fanatics, ]>e permitted to dictate to any citizen who is peacefully and legally amusing himself? Of course, I only smiled at the threats of these thrto persons, who were evidently Socialists by their get-up, and wonder whether any of (lie "anti" crowd will .shoulder a rifle when necessity arises, and perhaps if willing to do so will thev be able tu do anything towards the defence of their country? I doubt i(. Anyway, it's about time someone look a band and "shook them up,'' and showed them that they will not have their own wav in defiance of the low of the land. Apologising for trespassing upon your space,—l am, etc., WM. H. J. BURTON.
