4 ■ A VALUABLE COLLECTION. Some valuable* and interesting relics of Captain Cook will arrive by the Cormluc this morning, and are to be placed in (he Dominion Museum, where part ot tho collection will bo exhibited as soon as can be arranged. Included among these relics are tho feather cloak and helmet particularly described in Captain Cook s journal as hnvin? been presented to him bv the Chief Terreoboo .(Tiarreboo or Tairapu) shortly before his death. The chief himself threw the cloak over Cook, and placed the helmet on Ins head, the natives at that time regarding Cook almost as a god. There is also in the collection a cloak made principally of tne black feathers of tho powhee bird bordered with rod and yellow; a fly flicker belonging to Captain Cook, the handle being mSde of tko arm bone of a chief taken in battle; a military gorget worn bv the warriors of Otakeite, two nose flutes from tho Sandwich Islands, a \er> line cutting knifo edged with shark s teeth ; two idols and jactetono from New Zealand; spears, war clubs, paddles, and arrows wiist cloth of mother of pearl; an African horn, two African fans, and a. pouch; Hint and bone instruments, and S °Th"' collection lins been presented to the Government and people of New /.ealnnd by Lord St. Oswald..in whoso Innnly they have boon sinco 181 V).
