Short on Saturday. .Alfred Hobbs, tho prosecutor, staled that on tho night of April 10 he and accused hail some drinks together at tho Grand National Hotel. Witness lelt lor home in his earl, ami when just starting ho saw a man take a baa (the contents of.which were valued at Js.) from his cart. Ho eould not swear who the man was. hut he afterwards went lo Kerr's house, where his bar; was found. Constable Jlickelj-mn deposed that when he went to accused's 'house, JCerr first denied any knowledge o}' the matter, but afterwards admitted taking the hag. A iino of ,1:3 was imposed, in default U days' imprisonment. "Witnesses' expenses wero ~ allowed, and accused was given till the end of the month to pay the tine.
