SCOTT AND THE POLE.
HOPEFUL OF REACHING IT. Bj Telegraph—Precs As-nciation—CoDyrlsht Sydney, April 13. Captain Scott, in a letter to the State Attorney-General (Mr. Holman), dated October 31, shows that lie was hopeful of winning the Pole, lie savs: "In the end wc shall have a mass of material which will well repay all the outlay of the expedition, judged by scientific standards, but we can scarcely be contented with that. I hope to have cause to rejoice in something which appeals more largely to tho sentiment of our rare."
