The annual meeting of {lie Wellington Golf Club was held at the Sydney Street Schoolroom on Wednesday. The following officers wero elected for the ensuing year:—President, Sir J. G. Tho auuual meeting of the Wellington Referees' Association was held last ovening, Dr. Morpeth presiding. Tho annual report stated that the association had been successful in appointing referees for nearly every match played under the auspices of the Wellington Hockey Association, and, in most cases, the members had given entire satisfaction. Two complaints had been received re referees during the season, nnd, after hearing both sides of tho question, it had been found that, in both instances, that the referee was quite within his rights. Tho active membership was thirteen. Soiuo members did not seem to realiso the necessity of being punctual in starting games, or of being on tlio ground at the appointed time, and tlio committee had causo to censure them for their dilatoriness. Tho thanks of the association are duo to Dr. Morpeth and Messrs. Organ and Bennett. During tho season the . first examination of referees was held, . and proved very successful. Earnest ad- , vico was given to members to do their . best for tho association during tho coming season by obtaining new members, being prompt and punctual in starting matches to which they are appointed, and in sending in their reports of matches as soon as possible. Tho report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr. Cusack moved, and Mr. Carver seconded: "Tlmt tho Wellington Hockey Association bo asked to pay . into the ' funds of tho Wellington Referees' Assoi eiation the sum of ono shilling per match, ; for which referees, are appointed, and I attend." This was'carried unanimously, i It was resolved that tho W.R.A. shall - not rccogniso tho claim of any referee - for his expenses incurred in attending - n match, unless he shall notify tho secretary of the result of such match, in accordance with Rule 2G. BOWLS.

Providing the weather is fine, tho Karori Bowling Club will bold a tournament on its green on Saturday evening next. To mako this possible the green will be lighted with "Lux" lights, calculated to givo in all light of 3000 candle power. The novelty of playing under artificial light should interest bowlers.

BENEFIT FOR JAMES GRIFFIN.

At a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Boxing Association, held on Tuesday last, it was resolved to write to the various associations in New Zealand soliciting donations towards a benefit fund for Jaines Griffin, who is incapacitated from further boxing.

MEETING OP THE COUNCIL. Christchurcli, April 12. The council resolved that tho title should revert to Mitchell.
