Farewell Spit reported yesterday that , the Bank Line's steamer Bovoric, bound from Newcastle to Coral, s „ South America, passed cast-at 10.45 a.m. i KIA ORA, FROM LONDON. , Shortly after 10 a.m. yesterday the Shaw- : Savill steamer Kia Ora arrived at Wellington from London, and berthed at Jeri vois Quay No. 14. The vessel loft London lon February 10, and whilst crossing the i , Bay of Biscay, encountered a heavy southwest gale, accompanied by mountainous seas. The Kia Ora shipped a great deal of water, but no damage was done. Again, when running the casting down in 120(leg. cast Long, on March 21, she encountered another heavy gale, this time from the south-west. These- conditions rprevailed for 35 hours.' Thence onwards fine weather was experienced to arrival at Auckland. Captain J. S. Macfie is in command, and has associated with him the following officers :-Ohiof, Mr. W. Kershaw: second, Mr. . J. According to the "Dunedin Star" the salvage steamer Wairoa which has her propeller unshipped and shaft drawn for the survey she is undergoing in Port Chalmers dock, seems to be a substantially construc;cd little craft. t The* steadying properties of her large bilge keel rolling chocks arc to be supplemented in view of the boisterous weather cxpcctcd down south by fore-and-aft sails, for the setung of which a mainmast if? about to be fitted, the little treasure Hunter haying at present only one short mast, which is placed well forward. The vessel's bottom is not coppered, but the planking nevertheless seems to be in very good order. A projected departure from Wellington for London, at daybreak to-day, { was the Tyser liner Indrapura. The liner has on board 125,000 carcasses of frozen mutton. It is anticipated that the Tyser liner Indrabarah will be dispatched from Wellington for Wanganui on Monday. Dut at Wellington from Westport tomorrow the coastal steamer Mangapapa will load explosives on Monday and Tuesday for Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth. She take 3 general cargo for Karamea also, and is expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon. To-morrow the Union Company's Taviuni is expected back at Lyttolton from the CHathams. She sails again on Monday. The coastal steamer Moa left Westport for Wanganui on Thursday night. The Putiki leaves on the same trip to-day. . When the Himitangi comes off the Patent Slip, the Ripple, and Tutanekai will be taken up for overhaul. Owiug to trouble at the mines, the Ko* 1 raata, Koonya, and Xavua are detained , at Westport. Monowai, j.e., will be day late on the run up the coast from Dunedin to Auckland this trip. The vessel is due at Wellington from Lyttolton on Tuesday, and sails for Napier the same evening. She will remain at Napier until after the arrival of the Wellington express on Wednesday evening. .Mapourika, s.s., left Westport for Nel- , son and Wellington at 8 a.m. yesterday. The vessel is due in port about 5 p.m. today.
