FRUIT COMMISSION.
« Members of tho Federal Fruit Commission are rather impressed with the argument that a close and searching inquiry is needed into tho marketing ol Australian fruit in London. They do not go quito as far as the sugge.stum in the "Age." They will not admit that a small mobile'commission to visit London should have been appointed instead of tho weighty and impressive body of Parliamentarians which they form. 13ut tlitfy go half wiij'j niul think that one 01 their number should tako the London trip—of course, at Federal expense. It is not quito certain how they will decide who is to go. Perhaps they will draw lots or the Labour members may iirst carry a resolution that it be one of themselves, and may then canvass each other for votes. Tli'o commission has decided 'o take some evidence at the end of May in Brisbane, after the Northern Jerritory picnic party lias returned. Then it will visit all tho States. The chairman, Sir. F J. Foster, put before tho Minister of Customs tho idea that a commissioner should go to London. Mr. ludor "'inks the commission should first conclude part of its work before the matter ot a trip abroad should bo settled. He is against sending the whole of the commission. Indeed, when it was appointed lie said there "would be no trips to London. Iho "Ago" savs that would have settled the question were there not tho appeal to the caucus, whoso bidding Mr. liidor must not only perform, but advocate.
