UNITY CONFERENCE.
BUSINESS CONCLUDED. DOMINION EXECUTIVE APPOINTED. Tho Unity Conforonco concluded its kbours at midnight yesterday. It sat during the afternoon and evening in com. niitlee, ami only tho concluding portion ol the proceedings was open lo tho press. Lato in tho evening tho conference sot up a Dominion executive, which consists of a president and members, each of whom represents an affiliated trado group, following are its members:—Tho Hon. ,1. I. T'aul (president), Messrs. T. O'Hyrne, Southland (building trade group), W. \. Vcitch, M.P. (affiliated transport work?J s i, >» ol " din S i-ailwaymen), J. Robertson, ii.V. (affiliated agricultural and pastoral workers), .1. Peltard (affiliated printing trades), Q, R. Whiting, Christchurch (boot teitilo and clothing trade), J. A If Cullough (affiliated wood and inctol workers), E. Tregear (affiliated conimercinl workers, A. Withy (affiliated professional workers), K. ,7. Carey (affiliated food workers), J. E. M'Manus (affiliated general workers), D. M'Laren (affiliated radical and progressive associations). Tho constitution and platform of the new political and industrial organisations to which tho conference has given birth were formally adopted during yesterday's silting, lhe principal features of both constitution and platform will 1» found in the report of yesterday's proceedings at tho Labour Parly Conference, which appears in another column. The onlv important alteration made by the Unity Coiifercnco was the deletion of the "Eloctivo Executive" plank from the political platform of tho party. T!io conferasje last evening passed a resolution merging the identity of ■ the superseded Labour bodies in' the new organisations, mid also the following:—. "That we, the delegates who have attended the Unity Conference and hnve taken part in the deliberations of that conference, mutually pledge ourselves to organise for, advocate, and support, the constitution and objects of tho United Labour Party." ■ ' : _ Professor Mills remarked that lhe passing of these resolutions marked the termination of the contract into which ho had entered with the Labour bodies of the Dominion. He heartily thanked tho Labour lenders for their unfailing courtesy and kindness to himself. . .-1 Professor Mills was loudly cheered'as he concluded. Delegates agreed to moot at 3.30 p;ni. to- ; day to make a' presentation to their chairman (the Hon. J. T. Paul). To-day the Labour party conference will hold a final meeting to discuss working details of the new organisation. The Trades Councils' Conference will meet to deal with the business remaining on its agenda paper.
