SHORTAGE OF BRICKLAYERS.
GOVERNMENT ENGAGES 700.' Br Tflegrapn-rresa Apsnrlntton-Conyrlclit Sydney, April 11. The issue of a circular by the Bricklayers' Union stilting that the Government requires 700 bricklayers, who will be guaranteed Iwo years' work at fh.e bcs( rates of pay. and a report that the full number have applied to the Government, are alarming the builders. They declare (hat if the reports are true the private building trade will be paralysed, as they are unable now to fill requirements so far as bricklayers are concerned.
