Sydney, April 11. ; .Although the Lithgow strike has not yet been officially declared off, the embar go on Lithgow iron, which caused tho stoppage of the Sydney foundries, has been removed. The men have resumed work. NEWCASTLE MINING DISPUTE. Sydney, April 11. A considerable section of the Newcastle joalminors are changing, front with regard to the abolition of the afternoon shift, fearing that abolition will result in throwing many out of employment. ' HEAVY RAINFALLS. Brisbane, April 10. Phenomenal rains have fallen in the northern districts, forty-two inches being recorded at Innisi'ail in two days. Considerable damage has been done to cane And other crops. EPIDEMIC OF DYSENTRY. ■ Suva, April 11. An epidemic of dysontery is being experienced here.
