Attention is drawn to an advertisement appearing in this issue concerning a number of positions for school teachers in the Taranaki district. Applications will be received at. the office of the Taranaki Education Board up till 5 p.m. on April 20.

The third annual festival of the Christchurch Literary and Musical Competitions Society, under the title, of Dominion Competitions, commencing at the Theatre Royal on May 14, will he tho most comprehensive yet attempted by the society. The test items have all been selected by the judges. Tho committee, with the assistance of a number of citizens, has been able to offer very liberal prizes, including a largo number of special prizes for various classes, among them a- Spatho piano, valued at eighty guineas, given as lir«t prize in the chief piano solo.
