A steel-clad motor-car, "carrying contraband tobacco, valued at £1000, dashed across the frontier from Belgium, at Hazebrouck. Customs officials received the car with I hot rifle fire, riddling the tyres. Thereupon the smugglers jettisoned the tobacco, Bnd returned in the car to Belgian territory.
