4 KUGBY FOOTBALL. SENIOR MATCH PROGRAMME, AND SEVEX-A-SIDE. Following were the drawings adopted by the Kugby Union last night for the fust round of the Senior Championships on Saturday, April 20:— Ponoke. versus I'etone, at Athletic Park -No. 1. Melrose versus Southern, at Athletic Park Xo. 2. Athletic versus Wellington, at Petone. Victera. College versus Oriental at Karori. Old Boys versus St. James, at Polo Xo. 1. It was decided to commence the fifth class championship on the panic day, but to postpone the second, third, fourth, and sixth class championships until one week later. Tho following were- the drawings fixed for the seven-a-side tourney to bo ployed next Saturday.— Senior: Athletic A v. St. .Tames f!; Pctou?. A v. Wellington College; Poneko A v. Sclwyn; Athletic li v. St. .lames A; Petone B v. Oriental A; Poneko B v. Old Boys; Southern v. Wellington; Oris cntal H v. Melrose. Fifth St. James v. Melrose; Poneko v. Wniwctu; Oriental v. Southern; Pelono v. Wellington College. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Kugby Union was held last evening. There were present: Messrs. F. 0. Hales (chairman), TV. Perrv, E. A. Dan-son, H. Urquliart, E. Little, J. Burns, A. E. Brown, F. C. Atkinson, I). Weir, W. Hardliam. At the meeting of the committee last week a letter was received from the Wellington Keferccs' Association suggesting that an apology ought to be made by Mr. D. Weir for certain remarks made by him regarding the association at Die nliniial meeting of the Kugby Union. Mr. Weir was absent from the meeting, and the letter was held over. Last night the letter came up for consideration. Mr. Hairs suggested that it be acknowledged, and that the association ba informed that the remarks were made by a delegate, over whoso actions tho union had no jurisdiction. Mr. Brown seconded the motion. Mr. Atkinson considered the matter purely one for the Keferees' Association and Mr. Weir. The motion was carried. Miramar, . Ltd., wrote accepting the union's offer of .£35 for the use of the Miramar Park for the. season, tho company reserving all the grazing rights over the ground. ASSOCIATION. W.F.A. COMMITTEE MEETING. Tho usual meeting of the Wellington Football Association was held last evening, Mr. H. M'Kc-owen presiding. At a meeting of the boys' coaches, Bro. Justin and Mr. W. Mcars were appointed to act on the Boys' Sub-Committee, together with Messrs. Salmon, Thompson, and Dick. A recommendation received from ths Grounds Committee stated that, if .possible, all sixth division matches should be played on town grounds. The Fixtures Committee was recommended to divide the sixth division into two grades, if entries warranted it. Mr. TV. J. H. Reynolds was appointed tho delegate: representing the Wednesday Association on the Wellington Football Association. It was decided that entries for (he Wednesday competitions close on April 24. It was decided that the time of closing the entries for the various competitions be extended until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 15. Up till last evening the following entries had been received:—First division—Swifts, Diamonds, Ramblers, Y.M.C.A., Wanderers, Hovers, Corinthians, Thistle, and St. John; second division — Petone, Swifts, Diamond*, Y.M.C.A., Wanderers, Rovers, Thistle, St. John; third division—Petone. Swifts, Diamonds. Y.M.C.A., St. John, Brooklyn, Johnsonville, Marist School; fourth divi-sion-Swifts, Y.M.C.A. (2), Brooklyn, Johnsonville, Marist School, Institute, South Wellington; fifth division—Swifts, V.M.C.A. (2), Brooklyn, Johnsonville, Marist School, Institute ,(2), South Weilington; sixth division—Swifts, Y.M.C.A. f2), Brooklyn, Marist School (2), Institute South Wellington, Island Bay, South Wellington, Island Bay, snd Porirua.
A letter was received from the chairman of the Wellington Northern League, asking the association for permission lo play on one or two of the city reserves between two and throe o'clock on Saturdays. The application was declined. The chairman reported that (he Ferry Company had agreed to run a boat from town toMiramar at 2.30 n.m. on Saturday, April 13. also on April 20. If traffic warrants it, however, the company will run boats during the season. BOWLS. CHRISTCHURCH TEAM. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Groymouth, April 10. The Christchurch bowlers were beaten by Cireymouth yesterday by 87 to 72. 'The visitors expressed high appreciation of the excellent green, which, they said, was among 'the best in the Dominion. The Wanganui Easter tennis tournament, abandoned on Tuesday because of tho rain, was resumed yesterday in splendid weather. There remains still to be decided on Saturday the combined handicap doubles and combined championship doubles, also tho men's championship singles belween Bntterworth, of Wanganui, and I'owdrell, of Patea. 'GOLF. Owing to the opening of the Wellington Club links on Saturday next, the mcchl competition to be held by the Hut! Club on that day has been postponed until Hie following Saturday.
