Replying to a deputation from till Arbitration and Peaco Association protesting against the compulsorr clause of the JMeheo Act, tho Hon. A. M. Myers, Minister for Defence, stated that whilo "holding" in respect the conscientious opinions of thoso opposed to military training, it was his duly to seo tho law was carried out. Although the Government regretted being compelled to allow the civil law to take its course when resisters failed (o register (which involved penalties) Ihe Government had no option but to see that the law was vindicated. Those who tailed to register were thereby disfranchised and forfeited the right to Government euiplo.viiicut.
