The balance-sheet of tho recent bazaar held by the Carterton Volunteer Eire Brigade shows a credit balanco of .£3OO Bs. Bd. This will enable tho brigade to wipe off the mortgage ou tho station and pro- ; euro dress uniforms, in addition to improving the building. _ At tlio annual meeting of tho Carterton Hockey Club, tho balance-sheet showed a •credit balanco of XB Os. 9d. Mr. W. C. Buchanan, M.P., was elected patron, and Mr: E. Eagle, jun., president. Mr. 13. SI. 'Whyto was re-eleeted secretary and treasurer. It was dccidcd to open tho season on Thursday, April 18, and to enter \ senior and junior team in the championships. The slaughtermen at the Wairarapa Farmers' Meat Works at W r aingawa have ■Tiubscribcd <£G towards the relief of the .starving children in England. Tho ballot taken by the Taratahi Meat Workers' Industrial Union of Workers, on the question of affiliating with tho New Zealand Workers and Allied Trades Federation, resulted in :>!) voting for the proposal and two against it.
