The Federal immigration officers 6tate they cannot understand the difficulty regarding Mrs. Elliott, who has been reported as unable to leave New Zealand owing_ to the operation of the Australian aliens laws. Mr. Atlee Hunt, Secretary of the Department of External Affairs, said that where Eurasians were concerned the Government was always pleased to speed the parting guest. In the case of such wanting to return to India from New Zealand, the Department always did what it could to facilitate the passage through the Commonwealth. He knew Mrs. Elliott's case had not been officially reported to the Department. He was unable to understand why the shipping company had refused to take her as a passenger.
