PERSONAL ITEMS.

The Hon. H. G. Ell is the only Minister in town to-day. The Prime 'Minister (the Hon. T. Mackenzie) is in Taranaki, the Hon. A. M. Myers and Dr. Te Rangihiroa are at Auckland; tho Hon. W. D. S. Macdonald in the Gisborne district, and the Hon. J. Colvin on the West Coast. Tho Hons. G. W. Russell and G. Laurenson are with tho Prime Minister in Taranaki. Mr. Ell may pay a brief visit to Hawke's Bay in a day or two.

Mr. W. P. Massey, Leader of the Reform Party, arrived bv the Auckland express vesterday, and will leave for the south to-night. To-morrow he will attend a social at Raknia in honour of Mr. Hardy, ox-M.P., and lie will then go on to Wyndham to be present at a banquet to Mr. Andorson, M.P. Ho will return to Wellington about tho end of next week.

One of the early members of the Wellington Conciliation Board, appointed under the original Conciliation and Arbitration Act, has just passed away, in the person of Mr. David Patrick Fisher, who died at his residence, Karangahape Road, Auckland, 011 Friday. Deceased, who was G2 years of ago, was a brother of the Into Mr. George Fisher, formerly M.H.R. for Wellington, mid an uncle of Mr. F. M. 13. Fisher, M.P., present member for Wellington Central. Ho was for many years closely associated with tho Wellington Typographical Union.

Mr. A. Harris, member for Wnitcmatn, is at present on a visit to Wellington, with a view to transacting Departmental business ill tho interests of his constituency, lie will return to the north to-day or to-morrow.

Mr. J. Parr, Mayor of Auckland, left Wellington for the north by tho first express yesterday.

Dr. .1. Allan Thomson, first New Zealand Rhodes Soh.dar, and palaeontologist to the New Zealand <le:dogicnl Survey, has been nominated tor the scat on the Senate of Iho No.v Zealand University, rendered vacant by tho retirement of Professor Salmond.
