THE BRITISH COAL STRIKE.
RESUMPTION QUESTION HOTLY DEBATED. DIVIDED OPINIONS. "DECLINE TO STARVE INDEFINI ITKLY." By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright London, April 5. It is understood the Miners' Federation Executive Committee's decision to ask the men to resume work on Saturday met with tho strongest opposition, and that only an appeal for moderation made by Mr. Enoch Edwards, Labour M.l'., and secretary of tho North Staffordshire Miners' Association, turned the scale. The fate of the committee's recommendation at the hands of the National Conference is uncertain. "The Times" labourer correspondent asserts that extremists will be able to carry the conference against resumption of work. A mass meeting of South Wales surfacemen decided not to resume work until their demands are conceded. The president denounced the miners' leaders for despising the claims of the surfacemen.
