(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) TWO SOVEREIGNS. . A YOHG GIRL'S TROUBLE. At. the Magistrate's Court on Saturday a ca=e was called in which a. domestic servant. 18 vears of age, was charßcd with the theft of two sovereigns from Harry Longmore. Accused, Who was on bail, did not appear. Serjeant Darby suggested tbat a warrant for her arrest should bo issued. His Worship said that as the accused had signed a statement admitting that she hart stolen the- sovereigns, the matter might be disposed of without taking (ho course suggested. Detective Kawlo was called. He said that the girl had made a. statement (and had signed it) to tuo effect that she had stolen the money, and had spent it ncarlv all on clothing. The reason which she had given was that she had been practically penniless, and had had very little clothing. Sergeant Darby remarked that the girl was practicallv mi orphan. His AVorship said that after hearing what had been put before him, lie was prepared to issue a warrant for accused's arrest. COPPER BOILERS STOLEN. William M'Enernoy pleaded guilty to charges of the theft of two copper boilers, ono valued at 1"«. fid. and the other at Detective M'llveuev slated that one of llio boilers had been taken from an empty house, ami that the owner of l.ho other boiler had not been disclosed by accused. Aroused had sold the boilers to secondhand dealers for .'!?. and +«., and had then left AVellinglon, but had been arrested at Shannon. Accused was fined .El on each charge, and was ordered to make restitution. OTHER CASES. For insobriety, William lilair was iinnl J;l, and Alexander Churchman was lined .CI, prohibited, and warned that he might, lie sent to Koto V!oa if lie appeared again mi a Minilar charge. Luther Lae.gvad was fined 10s. for leaving .a vehicle unattended in a public street.
