At half-past threo o'clock on Thursday afternoon a flax shed, situated on the Miramar flat, was totally destroyed by fire, together with a llnx-press and a scutcher. Tho shed was owned by J. ,T. Burke nnd Co. Mr. J. Hamilton, to whom a portion of tho shed was let as a stable, lost Eomo harness and a quantity of horse-feed. He just managed to save his horse, .which was in its stable when the fire broke out. A long length of hose was laid to tho nearest watersupply, but nothing could bo done in timo to save the building.
