SCARGILL GRAZING RUNS.

(By TeleeraDh.—Press. Association.) „ „ Christchurch, April i. _Mr. George Gibb, of Scargill, saw the Hon. G. Lanrenson to-day with reference to the present position of the lessees of the grazing runs ut Scargilt. He stated that under the 18S5 Act the leases of these' runs are to be renewed at the end of a stated period at a rental equal to '2.J per cent, of their unimproved value at tho end of the period stated. The runs have been held by tho present lessees for 20 years, and they do not want tho present position disturbed. It was possible, Mr. Gibb further remarked, that the Government might take possession of tho runs for closer settlement purposes. Ho pointed out that the majority of tho runs' were only able to carry one family. 'Ilia Minister promised that on his return to Wellington he would brins? tho matter under tho notice of tho Prime Minister.
