The passenger traffic through Palmerston just now is stated to bo quite as heavy, if not heavier, than was the case at Christmas. . . A ladies' physical training class is being formed here. The Rev. Mr. Spence presided. The proposed division of the circuit again camo up for discussion, and, us a result of decisions come to at Cuba Street and St. Paul's Churches, a. motion was moved: "That the circuit bo divided into two, Cuba Street to have tho Bunuythorpe and Longburn Churches, and St. Paul's to have Ashhurst, Stony Creek, and Pohangiu'a." The motion, was carried almost unanimously. A sub-committee, representing all tho churches, was set up to arrange a basia of separation. Reports from the various organisations ehowed that satisfactory progress was beini; made in all branches of Church work. Messrs. Manson and Barr have presented a handsome silver cup to the Terrace End Bowling Club for competition at iti Easter bowling tournament. Mr. T. H. Richards, of Palmerston, has been appointed judge at tho coursing meeting at Hamilton on April 24. During tho threo months just ended there havo been three bankruptcies in the Manawntu district. Tho Palmerston Coursing Club has decided to hold a coursing meeting on May 15 and IC. There will be three events on the programme. Tho annual installation of W.M. and investituro of officers of the Rongotea Masonic Lodge took place last night. There was a large attendance of visiting members of the craft, especially from Palmerston and Feilding. Tho installation was carried out by D.G.M. Bro. J. Moncrieff, assisted by D.D.C. Bro. J. A. Nash. ' 'i'he Eastern Rugby Football Olub, of Palmerston, is making a recommendation to the Rugby Union to set aside ono Saturday during the season ns a benefit for Mr. 'Archie M'Minn, the well-known explayer and referee, who is now very ill. ■ -V concert and danco was held at the Municipal Hall last evening ia aid of the billiard table and piano fund of the Men's Social Club. There was a Rood attendance. A fine programme of vocal and instrumental music was rendered. A dance followed.
