SPREAD OF THE CULT AMONCI MAOIUS. (By Telenrapli.—l'ross Association.) Palmcrston N., April 5. Tho nnuual Mormon convention begun at Awapuni, a inilo from Palmerston North, yesterday. Pivo hundred Maori members aro already assembled, with Pastor Komney (president), and 57 American elders from Salt Lake City, as well as Maori ministers. Members are gathered from all parts of New Zealand. The Hon. 'i'o Hangihiroa visited the meeting. To-morrow the assembly will proceed to vole on Hie election of a president of tho Mormon Church, two councillors, anil twelve elders at Salt Lake, simultaneously with similar conventions in all parts of (ho world, 'i'lie convention extends over Easter. The Maori adherents number six thousand, and the Mormons ar« establishing an agricultural college, at a cost of .EIO.COO.
