AMERICAN COAL TROUBLE.
100,000 MEN SUSPEND WORK. Bj lilecraDh-Prcsn Association—CnaTrlsht New York, April 1. One hundred thousand miners on tho Pennsylvania coalfields will suspend work in consequence of tho dispute with tho owners. Conferences between the owners and men's representatives aro still proceeding. A vote has yet to be taken by the miners as to whether they will strike. A strike would affect the whole coal industry.
It is declared that suspension of work will be automatic, in consequence of the expiry of the ntn's agreements.
MINERS' LEADER HOPEFUL. '(Eec. April 2, 11.30 p.m.)
New York, April 2. Tho miners will take a referendum on April 10. The president of Hie Miners' Federation is hopeful of a resumption of worlc on April 20. This is duo to the conciliatory attitude of the mineowners.
