{From Car Scecial Oorrcssondent.l HUTT BIVER BOAED. Tho monthly meeting of the Hutt River Board was hell last night, and was attended by Messrs. Baldwin, (chairman), Sladden, Welch, and Knight. v ill'. I'. H. Gossc protested against tho board's action in preventing him from removing shinglo irom the river-bed.—lt was pointed out that Mr. Gosso was removing shingle from certain piaccs to the detriment of the river chanuel. It was resjlved to offer the Petono, Hutt, and Hutt Count}' Councils the shinglo on No. 3 section of the ueach nt a royalty of 'id. per load. The tender of Messrs. l'itcaithlcy and Co. for a three years' tenure of the A'o. 1 beach, was accepted, at an animal lenlal of k'oi. Xuml/jr 2 beach was let to Ilayes and Co. at a rental of i2OO per annum. lu regard to certain proposals of the overseer for further protective works, the chairman pointed out that the board had no -juris iiction beyond tho Silverstream railway bridge. It was a great pity, as it would "probably get over the difficulty of that portion of river protection.—The matter was held over.

TETONE TECHNICAL SCHOOL. Tho monthly meeting of tho Managers of the Pebnc Technical School Board was held last evening. There wore present: The Rev. A. Thomson (chairman), and Messrs. D. il'Kcuzii, Hope, Roots, and Castle.

The director reported that some of tho classes were still low. The wool class would probably go ahead next quarter. The mechanical drawing class was low, and it seemed to him that there was to some extent an overlapping in the drawing classes. Mr. Blakely Juul started an extra class for tho senior pupils in theory of electricity. He thought that an extra class might bo established for older pupils who hau not yet passed Standard li.
