THE WAYS OF THE EXPLORERS.

With the aid of'the above map it is easily possible for anyone to get a good general idea of the routes of travel selected by recent explorers of the Antarctic. Amundsen's route is indicated by a thick black line leading from Buenos Aires to the ice barrier and thence to the Pole. Captain Scott's route from Hobart to M'Murdo Sound is shown by a dotted line which cannot be completed until the explorer has given out the nature of his work and line of route. Other interesting features of the map are Dr. Mawson's proposed field of scientific investigation, and Lieut. Filchner's proposed route to the Pole.
