Supper was provided by tlie ladies. A local syndicate is negotiating with tho Borough Council to put a tram service throughout the borough. The council is to discuss the matter at a special meeting to be held after Easter. A start was made yesterday with the construction of the new lire station at Pet-one, on the section on the corner of liuick and Adelaide Streets. Mr. C. Lepper, superintendent: of the Petone brigade is lo act as clerk of works. Mr. Caleb Lusty, of l'etone, will leave on an cxlend-al tour to England next Thursday.
