Beattic which was amended and, carried after ■ a .VS'i lp V'?, t . lloUrs ' discussion as follows— that this association recommends the to lowing course of action to the con«o -- 0 " °' th ° En, l ,lo l' crs ' Podera"l'hat the federation draft such amendments to the existing labour laws as may he required in tho vital interests cf employers, and demand that the (jovornment, supported by Parliament, take immediate steps to protect employers' interests in the manner indicated by passing effective legislation within a reasonable time and to tnko such other steps as the Advisory Board of the New Zealand Employers' Federation mav consider advisable to meet the recent develop- , ments of tho organisation against them, by completely organising for' the protection of commerce and industries in the interests' of the community the full strength of the employers of New Zealand.'" Mr. W. Pr.vor, general secretary of the Employers' Association, and Mr. Scott of (he Arbitration Court, who are here in connection with the sitting of the Court, addressed a meeting of delegates pt the farmers' bodies, who had been also invited. It was made clear that the federation of Labour, and not tho'o bodies which respected agreements, wouid have to bo fought. It was considered that, as the labour organisation had four highly-paid lecturers and 20 organisers the employers must take a leaf out of their hook, and actively organise and consolidate.
