MUSICAL RECIPROCITY.

BETWEEN WELLINGTON AND AUCKLAND. At the annual meeting of Hie Hoyal Wellington Choral Society, held in St. John's Schoolroom n few weeks ago, Mr. Maughan Barnott outlined a scheme of musical reciprocity between Auckland and Wellington, which had emanated from conversations with Mr. Henry Brett, of Auckland, a gentleman who takes the liveliest, interest in the promotion of interest in Rood music. On Unit occasion Mr. Barnett said that the relish idea w.i« mi interchange of visits between the Auckland choral societies and the Wellington Hoyal Choral Society, whereineach society would give one performance and would unite in a third at each festival to he held in the two cities. The idea was taken up enthusiastically, and it was announced that the proposal was subject to ratification by. Mr. Brett and the Auckland societies interested. Opportunity was taken of his presence in AVellington yesterday evening for the committee of the local society to meet Mr. Brett, and talk the matter over. As « result of this conference, the following resolution was .passed:— "That the committee of the Hoyal Wellington Choral Society, having conferred with Mr. Henry Brett ami Mr. Matiglian Burnett, is thoroughly in favour of the establishment of musical reciprocity between Auckland and Wellington, and, with that object in yiew, cordially supports the pi;oi)"s!il for joint musical festivals by thi-'Aucklnml musical societies anil this society."

A series of d-finifo suggestions were .agreed 10, and Mr. Brett agreed to submit them fo the Auckland Choral Society. One arrangement proposed was that m the ease of the joint performance, Hie visiting conductor should direct. The first of the festivals will take place early next vear, probably in Auckland.
