Mr. Godfrey Thomas, of Maslorlon, left for Nelson yesterday on holiday leave. Mr. John Mvnott, an old resident, dropped down dead in Devon Street yesterday (states a Press Association telegram from New Plymouth). Mr. Mynott, who had been in'business in New Plymouth for a number of years, was an old soldier, who had served' in India. New Zealand, and other parts of the Empire. One of his sons is Mr. H. J. Mvnott, the well-known Xe.\v 'Zealand and Taranaki representative footballer. Mr. Herbert Smith, of Happy Valley, Brooklyn, leaves for Sydney by the Moaua on April It). A private cable has been received that Dr. liuhon, son of the Rev. U. Hutson, of Brooklyn, obtained the, degree of P.K.C.S. at Edinburgh Inst week. Coombe, who was a member of Iho Cily Council from December, 1885, to September, 1883, was an old resident nl Ihe city, and Coombe Street (Te Aro) was named after him. At; one time he stood lor Parliament, and, thought defeated, gained considerable support at the poll, lie was a builder by trade, and started the first sash and door factory at Eastbourne.
