The net proceeds amounted to £i, and this with tho other collections will swell tho total for tho week to £20, Tho first item was a 100 yards sprint race, which was won by \V. Ryan, off 10yds., with B. Eyan, 10yds., second, and House, syds., third. Next came a ladies' hockey niatch, St. Augustine's r. Petone, and after a very good game Petone won by two goals to nil. Miss Scrimshaw and Miss Septer were tho scorers. There were about twenty entries for tho 440 yards hurdles, which was won by W. Ityan, .T. Eyan running second, and K. Kyan third. Tho football match between an A and B team from the Fctono Club was perhaps tho most, popular turn of the day. ljoth teams were evenly matched, and pLny was fast. ■Jt'Kenzi'.i's team beat .las. lfyan's team bv 1C points to It. Tho scorers were: I'nr tin* winners, M'Kcn/.ie, Ciuthrie (onn try each), nnd Mooney converted two Irie.s. For Kyan team, .Too I'ynn, Nankiville. and Arrowsmith each secured a txy, and ll'Farhme kicked a penalty and converted a try. Mr. U. Prico controlled the game. The members of tho llult Eivor Roard miwlo a toiiT of inspect ion on Saturday morning of tho protective, works of the river. Tn parts of the river bank there Ims been serious erosion in tho vicinity of (he Unit golf links. Severn! protective works have been sanctioned, but the overseer urges that others should bo carried out at once.
