AMERICAN COAL DISPUTE.
SMALL PROSPECT OF SETTLEMENT. By Telegraph— Preti Association—Copyrlchl Now York, March 29. It is reported from Cleveland that unless the coalminers and operators agree, the closing down of ivories, involving hslf a million men, lias been arranged for Monday next, the day on which (he miners' agreement will expire. The men refuse to resume at tho old scale of wages. If a lock-out occurs the men will leso a million dollars (J32OO.O0O) daily in wages. The prospects for a settlement of tho dispute are poor. 175,000 MEN ORDERED OUT. (Eec. March 31, 5.5 p.m.) New York, March 30. Tho first step has been taken towards a stoppage of work in tho anthracite coal regions. The Miners' Union, lias ordered out 175,000 men. Tho order will be effective on Sunday night.
