Burstow occasionally reinforces, his memory with stories told him by his father, and so can go back to 1820, when a man sold his wife at the November fair, for 3s. Cd.! Ho himself can well remember that in ISI-t a lady known as "Pin-too Nanny" was.brought into the marketplace "with a halter round her neck and sold, for Ms. to. a man who parted with his .watch to raise .the price. Nanny changed hands again a year afterwards ami married one Jim Smith, with whom she lived happily ever afterwards!
