THOUSANDS OF OPERATIVES IDLE. 8y Telegraph—rresi Association-Copyright New York, March 2G. From Patcrson, New Jersey, comes news that sixteen silk mills have been closed in different parts of the State, following the demands of the workers for increased pay. Seven thousand workers are idle. Twenty thousand operatives at Massachusetts cotton mills are also idle for a similar cause, tho owners having decided to shut down until tho differences are adjusted.
