PLASTERERS' DISPUTE.
DIFFERENCES SETTLED,
The dispute between plasterers and tile master builders of Wellington was further investigated by the Conciliation Commissioner and a Conciliation Council .yesterday, and a settlement of the points in dispute was made. The points 011 which there was disagreement were the definition of what should constitute plasterers' work, the rate of wages, the method of payment of wages, hours of worlc, suburban work, and tho preference clause. Wages were iixed at Is. 7jd. per liour, which is lid. per hour increase on tho rate current throughout New Zealand. A forty-five hours week was agreed upon to ensure uniformity in Tespect of hours of work throughout the building trade ill Wellington. The union hail aslced for a 41- homV week. Wages are to be paid weekly, either 011 the job, or at the employer's placo of business within fifteen minutes of the time of ceasing work. The definitioi of plasterers' work as laid down by the old award was accepted by both sides, and the rules as to suburban work, which were laid down in the Carpenters Award, were aiso accepted. If a railway journey is necessary, travelling time must bo paid by the employer as well as the railway fare. The preference clause adopted was on the lines of that embodied in the Carpenters' Award. A committee was set up to deal with disputed points which mnv arise while a building contract is in progress. It was agreed also that the award should expire at the same time as the Carpenters' Award (late in this vear), to allow of the possibility of a 4} hours' week for all building trade workers being discussed.
