A meeting of those desirous of identifying, and proceeding against the individual who was responsible tor laying poison on the streets of Lower Hutt about the middle of last month, was held in the Mayor's room, Hutt, last night. Mr. E. P. Bunny occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance. Jlr. E. V. Sanderson, who convened the meeting, suggested that a reward of ,£25 .be offered in order to secure a conviction. The question of handing the matter to the police was discussed, but subsequently it was resolved to adopt the suggestion of tho convenor, and advertise in all papers. Those present guaranteed to 'subscribe the amount It was stated that many valuable dogs had been poisoned, and in each case tho symptoms were of strychnine— One little boy had lost four dogs out of live quito recently. .Mr. Sanderson suggested that thore would be more poisoning cases, and tho outrages should be put a. stop to. ; PETONB FIKE BOAED. At a special meeting of the Petonc Fire Board, held yesterday, the tender of Messrs. Southgate and Co., for the erection of the new fire station, was accepted. Tlie clerk was instructed to make application to the Minister for Internal Affairs for authority for the sale of tho present fire, station.
